Forgive me your Eminence, I am a catechuman at St. Andrew under Fr. Josiah. If I can say, thank you for this. I have recognized in myself as a product of my modern culture my lack of ability to understand the meaning of text particularly the meaning of narrative text, and I was only taught to read to gather the data and the information from texts. I notice this is a big block for people in their interpretations of the Bible and texts of our Holy Fathers. Our modern culture has come to think that if we gather the facts we then have the truth, but your post helps to show me more that that is not the case. Forgive me for any error in my assessment.
Thank you, Sayidna! I have shared your article with my parish’s women’s book club (OCA) which I coordinate. We have been reading a mix of nonfiction by Orthodox Christians and some fiction by non-Orthodox Christians and enjoyed fruitful discussions. I look forward to your posts!
This is beautiful your eminence! This perfectly captures how I've felt watching people argue over Father Seraphim Rose. It often feels like neither side has read him but instead what they wanted to see in him.
Welcome to Substack Sayidna! 🙏🏻☦️
Just so.
Many years, your Eminence! Looking forward to more you here on Substack. Your Friday posts/teachings to the Archdiocese have been a wellspring to us!

I too suffer from modernity, shall persevere in the Way.

Very much appreciate this advice. Thank you!
Shukran, Sayidna.
